A Blurb for the New Collected Auden
This ancient poet's lexicon perplexes.
He waxes giddy over "God" or “art”
In semantic ranges where we know “text” is
The better signifier. That’s just the start
Of it, too. He’s confused about the sexes,
Pines for finished “love” when partners will part.
And where he obviously means “complexes,”
Odd verses reference his damned and ragged “heart.”
