this odd, self-referential rite

The red-poxed map below reveals that this blog does have some readers in Indiana and Michigan (though the damned slackers apparently can't be bothered to leave a comment, right?). If you are one of these, come hear me read on Nov. 20: here

Them what live within driving distance had better be there. If you don't come to my reading I will track you down and thump you with a mean-looking stick I found the other day beside the railroad tracks. I'm guessing it used to be a hobo's makeshift wooden leg. I've already used said stick to kill a hairy, menacing spider in the toolshed, so you had best take it seriously.

Okay then. I'll be there.

Hello, Charmi,

Wow! You really are a reader in Northern Indiana -- I was just bluffing....

Thank you for coming by. Maybe we will meet at IUSB...

See what happens when you bluff ;-)

I'm looking forward to meeting you at IUSB - and thanks, also, for stopping by my blog, poetry-less as it is at the moment.

Wish I could be there, James. Every time I'm able to be at one of your readings, I've gained so much. Every time. Your work gives such a strong presence.

My best for the reading. Break a word. You can mail me the thump in the head with such a well-seasoned and utilitarian instrument.

Well ... Tennessee is pretty far ... so, no thump for you, Sam. This time.

I assume I'm excused from the thumping as well :) It goes without saying that I would have loved to have attended.

Sorlil,

Just because there's the small matter of an ocean intervening?

Flimsy excuse! But okay, no thumping....
