A poem in the May issue of Chantarelle's Notebook

Skid

My wife lay wrapped in bandages
and new casts, breath

hitching in the forced sleep
that dripped into her, backs

of both hands bruised
around the needles....

Congratulations on the 2nd go 'round. Such a strong piece, James. The ending has a lot of clout. Stays in the head.

Thanks for coming by, Sam. I'm still thinking about the new look. Not sure I want to leave it like this, but I do like it better than the old look.... I love the Waterhouse painting, but maybe it's a bit too much....

I like the painting as well- but I also liked the fact that today I found a different painting - though I would have liked more visits with the first one.
